Microsoft Office Suite
Having used Microsoft Office in various classes, jobs, and campus leadership position, I have become very proficient in all of the apps within MOS. However, I am most comfortable with Word and Excel.
SPSS
I took BioStatistics my junior year of College. I learned how to analyze data within Microsoft Excel and SPSS. Furthermore, in Methods and Theories of Biological Anthropology we are collecting and analyzing our own data on SPSS. Such techniques include t-tests, ANOVA, F-tests, Linear Regression, and more.
Critical Thinking
As an anthropology major, it is taught how to look at an idea or set of data objectively and critically to find solutions and a possible explanation. Critical thinking is a valuable tool I have used again and again while being an undergraduate anthropology major.
Communication
While working with OU Singers, Durham Youth Commission, and actively creating my own major, I have learned one of the most valuable skills in the workplace: communication. I can a very communicative person who is always keeping my coworkers and supervisors up to date.
Problem- Solving
Having been in very high stress environments working in the service industry, as well as doing an independently planned major, I have great problem-solving skills. Even when I do not know an answer to a problem, I always know who to talk to who where to get the answer. I can almost always find away to do something needed.
Marketing
Albeit I do not have a marketing degree, while being a University Singers officer, I have honed my marketing and recruitment skills. Singers is a small niche inside a small community, while being an officer I helped come up with PR ideas and ways to appeal to both members and potential applicants.
